A visit to De Vlieger windmill is extra special on National Windmill Day, Saturday, May 9. Not only because you will receive a free guided tour, but also because there will be music. From 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, a mobile carillon will be located in the parking lot at the windmill. It will be played by the owner, Boudewijn Zwart, and from 2:00 PM onwards, also by Gerda Peters, our Voorburg city carillonneur.
During National Windmill Day, windmills throughout the country are open to the public for free. At De Vlieger, guided tours of the windmill will take place between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
For the children who helped paint windmill sails in the center of Voorburg on Heritage Day, Saturday, April 11, there is something very special to see. On Windmill Day, those painted sails will be on the blades, and if the wind cooperates, the children’s drawings will happily spin around.
